Families displaced by Hurricane Sandy and who are trying to determine where their children should go to school, can call a new state hotline for personal guidance about schooling options.

The state’s hotline, which is run through the Department of Education, will operate Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The number is 609-292-2070.

Options to those displaced families could be an arrangement through their home district or enrolling students in a new district.

The education department last week told all districts that federal law requires districts to provide service to displaced students.
