While two officers were gathering information about a reportedly erratic driver in Atlantic City on Sunday morning, he rear-ended them, police said.

A police tow-truck driver was telling Officers Frankie Lane and Innocenzo Visciglia about the person driving a 1997 Saturn as they sat in their patrol car on Texas and Atlantic avenues at 2:33 a.m., when they were struck by the car, Sgt. Monica McMenamin said.

Jason Tetty, 19, who lives on Pacific Avenue, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

The officers were treated for neck and back pain at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus, and released.

The crash is under investigation. More charges could be pending, McMenamin said.
