ATLANTIC CITY — The city attorney who helped East Orange with its public safety overhaul has been picked to be Atlantic City’s next solicitor, Mayor Don Guardian announced Thursday.

Jason Holt has been East Orange’s corporation counsel for 16 years and played a key role in the technological initiatives that Atlantic City hopes to emulate.

“With Jason’s exceptional background and experience in improving local government, he is exactly what we need to take Atlantic City to the next level,” Guardian said. “With his comprehensive knowledge and understanding of legal matters pertaining to municipal government, I look forward to him joining our team.”

Last year, City Councilman Marty Small led several Atlantic City representatives on a trip to East Orange so they could get a firsthand look at what is possible with the right technology.

“I look forward to serving the citizens of Atlantic City,” Holt said. “When I met with Mayor Guardian, his enthusiasm and passion for Atlantic City was apparent. He made clear that he wanted to work with City Council to improve the quality of life for all citizens of Atlantic City.”

Holt said he feels that same passion and hopes to use his training and expertise to help the city.

“That is why I am excited to be a part of this new beginning,” he said.
