Egg Harbor Township police said they arrested three people on charges of drunken driving during a DWI checkpoint.

Police held the checkpoint on the Black Horse Pike in the Cardiff section of the township from 10 p.m. Sept. 7 to 3 a.m. Sept. 8.

A total of 582 motorists traveled through the checkpoint and three arrests were made and three vehicles were towed, police said. An additional person was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana under 50 grams and another was arrested on an outstanding warrant, police said.

Officers also issued 51 motor vehicle tickets.

The checkpoint was staffed with 14 officers from Egg Harbor Township and was supplemented with officers from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, and Ventnor, Longport, Linwood and Mullica Township police departments.
