The Egg Harbor Township Committee will consider a zoning ordinance tonight at 4 p.m. that may allow for a 70-unit affordable housing complex for veterans.

While no specific application is before township officials, the ordinance could pave the way for Renewable Jersey at Egg Harbor, LLC, to build a 70-unit complex of two- and three-bedroom apartments near the intersection of Cottonwood and West Jersey avenues.

The township’s Planing Board recommended the ordinance's approval at its Tuesday meeting.

Township Committee meetings are typically held at 5 p.m., but Mayor James “Sonny” McCullough said the change to 4 p.m. was announced last month because the Atlantic County Republican convention is planned for 6 p.m. tonight. The change is only effective for tonight’s meeting, he said.
