An Egg Harbor Township man was killed early Friday when his car ran into a utility pole on Delilah Road.

Township police said in a news release that Gregory Stewart, 55, of Egg Harbor Township, was driving his 1991 Buick LaSabre westbound on Delilah Road near Kingsley Drive. Stewart's car ran off the road for an unknown reason and hit a utility pole. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Egg Harbor Township ambulance squad and AtlantiCare paramedics responded. Atlantic City Electric workers also responded for potential issues related to the utility pole. Traffic was detoured for about two hours while the police were investigating and clearing the site.
