The second night of preliminaries at the Miss New Jersey Pageant in Ocean City featured three locals winning in three competitions, Ocean City spokesman Mark Soifer said.
Miss Avalon Kaitlyn Schoeffel, 19, of Egg Harbor Township, was one of two contestants who tied for first in the eveningwear competition, along with Miss Tri-County Carissa Palumbo, 21, of Wayne, Passaic County. Schoeffel had been judged the winner of the talent portion when her group competed in that event Thursday.
Miss Coastal Shores Anna M. Negron, 21, of Vineland, was judged the winner of the swimsuit competition.
In the other group, Miss Northern Lakes Cierra Kaler-Jones, 23, of Galloway Township, was named the winner of the talent portion for her dance to the song “Listen.”
Saturday is the final night of competition, when a winner will be declared from among 10 finalists.
