A fire in Middle Township Wednesday night injured several residents, police said.
The fire was reported on Old Avalon Boulevard shortly after 10:20 p.m., police said. When police arrived, heavy smoke was coming from the home and all residents had left the building.
The fire was extinguished quickly by the Cape May Court House Volunteer Fire Department, police said.
An unspecified number of residents were taken to Cape Regional Hospital for treatment of their injuries, which ranged from minor burns to smoke inhalation.
Assisting the Court House Fire Department were the Avalon and Stone Harbor Fire Departments, along with the Rio Grande Fire Department and the Middle Township EMS.
The fire is being investigated by the Middle Township Police along with the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office.
