ATLANTIC CITY — A fire that started in a car in the employee parking lot of the New York Avenue School spread to four other cars early Wednesday.

Fire Chief Dennis Brooks said the call came in at 8:03 a.m. when one employee's engine caught fire. The fire then spread to a nearby parked car and scorched three other cars as well, Brooks said.

The driver of the first car was injured, though the cause of the injury — a cut to the hand — is unknown, Brooks said. He was treated at the scene.

Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour to battle the flames. No other injuries were reported.

The fire is under investigation.
