A family of five was evacuated to a hotel after an explosion at a home on Duerer Street Saturday afternoon.

Laura Steinmetz, director of community/government relations for the American Red Cross South Jersey Region, said that they were called by Galloway Emergency Management to assist with the evacuation.

A family of four adults and one child were provided hotel accommodations. The family was allowed to gather its belongings before they left their home.

No further information on the incident was available from authorities Saturday night.
