A Galloway Township man has died from a gunshot wound suffered late Wednesday night.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the shooting death of Metrevell Gatling, 36. He was found at 11:12 p.m. lying on the street at East Collins Avenue and Colonial Court with a gunshot wound to his head.

Gatling is listed as living on the 200 block of Colonial Court. His listed home number was not in service Thursday evening.

He was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus in Atlantic City. The victim was declared without brain activity at 8:35 a.m. Thursday and placed on life support, which was terminated in the afternoon, the Prosecutor’s Office said.

The office’s Major Crimes Unit and the Galloway Township Police Department are investigating the incident and did not release any further information.
