GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — Township Council unanimously selected Susan Jacobucci as the next township manager at its Tuesday meeting.

Jacobucci will succeed Arch Liston, who left last month to become business administrator in Atlantic City.

She will take over as manager Feb. 24.

Jacobucci, an attorney, served as municipal solicitor of Cherry Hill, as director of the Division of Local Government Services for the state Department of Community Affairs, and as director of finance for the city of Newark.

She was selected from a pool of 20 applicants, which had been narrowed to four last month. She had also been interviewed for the position in 2010 before before taking the job in Newark.

“She just happens to stand out over the edge of everyone else,” Mayor Don Purdy said. “I think she will take over exactly where Arch Liston left off.”

“I’ve come to know it as a wonderful town,” said Jacobucci, who lives in Melton but plans to move to the area. “Sometimes things hasten in mysterious ways, and so I’m here again.”
