A Galloway Township woman has been identified as the victim of Thursday’s fatal crash on the White Horse Pike.

Vanessa L. English, 25, had been seen driving erratically east on the pike when her car struck a sport utility vehicle from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office. The SUV was being driven by a member of the Atlantic County’s Prosecutor’s Office, authorities said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV — Chief of Detectives Daren Dooley — was in stable condition, his family told police.

Galloway police Chief Patrick Moran said the department received two calls about English driving erratically before the crash occurred.

The first report came in as English passed Route 30 and Tilton Road, Moran said. The caller stated that she had followed the woman’s car from Egg Harbor City, Moran said.

The department received another call as English passed Pomona Road on Route 30, and that caller remained on the phone up to the time of the crash, he said.

The incident was still under investigation, and Moran said he could not comment further.

No reason was given for why English may have been driving as she was.

She graduated Atlantic County Institute of Technology, followed by Richard Stockton College in 2009.
