A Galloway Township woman was charged with DWI following a crash Wednesday morning that injured her and another driver.
The accident took place just before 7 a.m. on South Pitney Road near Spencer Lane, police said.
Harriet Evans, 46 of Galloway, was driving a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan northbound on Pitney when it crossed over the center line and ran off the roadway before coming back into the southbound lane, police said.
Evans' SUV then struck head-on with a 2009 Nissan Rouge headed southbound that was driven by Lakesha Green, 42 of Galloway, police said.
Both drivers were injured in the crash and taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, in Atlantic City for non-life threatening injuries.
Both vehicles had extensive damage from the crashand had to be towed from the scene.
Pitney Road between Great Creek Road and Quail Hill Blvd was closed in both directions for about an hour while the accident scene was cleaned up.
Evans was issued summons for DWI, having an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane.
