Two boys were arrested and charged with arson after they allegedly set fire to two unoccupied houses in the Mizpah section of Hamilton Township.

Police said they responded about 6:30 p.m. Sunday to two separate fires, one on Albany Avenue and one on New Orleans Avenue. The houses were unoccupied.

As a result of the investigation, police said they determined the two juveniles, whose ages they did not provide, were suspects. They were interviewed and ultimately each was charged with two counts of second-degree arson, two counts of third-degree criminal mischief and two counts of third-degree conspiracy.

The boys were taken to the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center in Egg Harbor City.

The Mizpah and Weymouth volunteer fire companies extinguished the fires, police said. No one was injured.
