HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – A 19-year-old Egg Harbor Township resident was seriously injured after her car struck a utility pole Tuesday.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. police responded to Old Egg Harbor Road near Ernst Court for a motor vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, police determined that Amanda Cavanaugh, 19, of Egg Harbor Township, had lost control of her 2006 Honda and struck a utility pole.

Police said Cavanaugh sustained serious injuries and was treated by AtlantiCare paramedics before being transported to the mainland campus of AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Galloway Township by the Hamilton Township Rescue Squad.

Power was knocked out in the area for several hours after the crash, until crews from Atlantic City Electric could replace the pole and restore power.

Police said Cavanaugh was wearing her seatbelt, but was issued several undisclosed summonses.
