Mitten Tree: The Longport Historical Society is asking for donations for its Mitten Tree through Dec. 22. Donations may be dropped off Mondays through Fridays at Longport Borough Hall, 2305 Atlantic Ave. Most needed are gloves, mittens, scarves, hats, and underwear for younger children. ACUA Holiday Food Drive: The Atlantic County Utilities Authority’s annual food drive to support the Community FoodBank of NJ, Southern Branch, will be held through Dec. 15. To participate, place a clearly marked bag of non-perishable food next to your recycling on your regular collection day before 7 a.m. Items cannot be frozen, perishable or in glass. Coat Drive: The Somers Point Police Department and Jordan Road/Dawes Avenue School Parent Groups are conducting a coat drive through Thursday. The coats will then be distributed from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jordan Road School, 129 Jordan Road. Coats, hats and gloves will all be accepted at any of the local drop-off locations: Charter Tech High School, 413 New Road; Dawes Avenue School, 22 W. Dawes Ave.; Fusion Church, 701 New Hampshire Ave.; Groveland Cleaners, 501 New Road; Jordan Road School; Shore Medical Center, main lobby, 1 E. New York Ave.; City Hall, 1 W. New Jersey Ave.; and St. Joseph Regional Catholic School, 11 Harbor Lane. Arrangements for donation pickups may be made by calling 609-927-6161.

AMI Toy Drive: The Atlantic Medical Imaging Foundation’s annual holiday toy drive runs through Dec. 15. Patients and community members are invited to join AMI physicians and staff in donating new, unwrapped toys, which will be donated to the Toys for Kids Program. Volunteers needed for Dec. 25: Seashore Gardens Living Center in Galloway Township is looking for local residents who are available to volunteer a few hours on Christmas Day so regular employees may be with their families for the holiday. Volunteers will fill various positions throughout the center, from receptionist to working in food service, maintenance, transporting patients, assisting in entertainment and socializing with residents.
