The National Weather Service has issued a high wind watch from Wednesday afternoon to Wednesday night for Atlantic and Cape May counties.

The service warns that sustained winds of at least 40 mph and gusts up to 60 mph are possible. Damage from the winds can include possible beach erosion and downed trees and power lines, the service said. Some power outages are expected, the service said.

The wind will also be joined by rain beginning around 4 p.m. Wednesday and the heaviest will fall between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. Thursday before ending Thursday morning, the service said.

The area could receive about an inch of rain.

Wednesday will have a high around 57 degrees Fahrenheit and then drop down to 48 degrees Thursday and 38 degrees Friday, the service said.
