VINELAND — Authorities are searching for a man in connection with what they called a home invasion-style robbery at the residence of an elderly female Tuesday.

Authorities said the suspect got into the Temple Road house by saying he was looking for a lost dog.

“When the victim attempted to flee the residence, the (suspect) caught her doing so and again dragged her down the hallway to a spare bedroom,” police said in a statement. “He threw her onto the floor and closed the door.”

According to police, the incident occurred at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect rummaged through the woman’s belongings after dragging her down a hallway and into a bedroom, they said.

City police said the woman, whom they wouldn’t identify, was not seriously harmed during the incident.

Police said the woman eventually left the spare bedroom to find that the suspect fled the house with jewelry and cash.

Suspect was wearing a dark baseball hat, dark pants and a dark-colored T-shirt, police said.

Police said the suspect may drive a newer model green Toyota or Honda.
