A single-car crash Saturday afternoon in Hamilton Township sent four people to area hospitals.

The crash occurred at 2:54 p.m. in the area of Pittsburgh Avenue, where a 1994 Honda Accord driven by Jaknivia Butler, 24, of Mays Landing, was traveling west on Bears Head Road and failed to properly negotiate the curve, police said. The car crashed into a tree.

Butler was transported by ambulance to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Mainland Campus, Galloway Township, for evaluation of injuries suffered in the crash, police said.

Two other occupants of the vehicle, Tamara Olivia Lynn Brooks, 22, of Millville, and a 2-year-old were airlifted to Cooper Hospital University Medical Center in Camden, police said. A fourth occupant, Tammie Morris, 42, also of Millville, was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, Atlantic City, police said.

The Morris family did not want information released Saturday, the hospital said. No information on Butler’s condition could be obtained from the hospital Saturday night.

Traffic in the area was diverted for an hour while the scene was cleared.

Hamilton police officers Kevin Zippilli and Wade Smith were investigating the crash.

Assisting at the crash scene were members of the Township of Hamilton Rescue, Weymouth Volunteer Fire Company, Mizpah Volunteer Fire Company, Laureldale Volunteer Fire Company, Mays Landing Volunteer Fire Company, Dorothy Volunteer Rescue Squad and AtlantiCare paramedics.
