On the same night of Borgata's star-studded 10th anniversary concert, the casino jewelry store was robbed of just less than $200,000 in watches in a smash-and-grab by three men.
Original estimates put the Monday-night theft at more than a half-million dollars, but that was adjusted after inventory Tuesday, Sgt. Monica McMenamin said. Rolex watches were stolen in the crime.
Police Chief Ernest Jubilee said the company is preparing surveillance video for the police to investigate. The department has begun searching for the stolen jewelry, he said.
Surveillance photos were released of the three suspects, who did not appear to be armed.
“Borgata security and surveillance teams have been working diligently to obtain clearer photos of the suspects,” McMenamin said.
Atlantic City police are interviewing witnesses. A female clerk was at the store at the time of the robbery and was not injured, Jubilee said. Police hoped to interview her again on Tuesday.
The three men were described as leaving in a dark-colored vehicle whose make and model was unknown, McMenamin said. It did not appear they parked in Borgata's garage.
