Two men accused of kidnapping a Ventnor man off an Atlantic City street late Friday night and driving him to his home to rob him now face additional charges, Atlantic City police said Sunday.
Meanwhile, police are searching for a third suspect in the incident, Sgt. Monica McMenamin said.
Atlantic City police have charged Wayne A. Crymes Jr., 31, of Mays Landing, and Korahn D. Hinson, 38, of Bridgeton, with aggravated assault, armed robbery, kidnapping, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. They were being held Sunday at the Atlantic County Justice Facility in lieu of $750,000 bail.
Both also face charges of conspiracy to commit robbery, criminal restraint and resisting arrest from Ventnor police. Bail for those offenses was set at $100,000.
McMenamin said the suspects allegedly pulled up beside the victim, whose identity is not being released, in a sport utility vehicle near Atlantic and Maryland avenues.
They are accused of pointing a handgun at the victim, instructing him to get inside the vehicle and then tying him up. After robbing the victim of more than $500, McMenamin said, the suspects drove him to his Ventnor residence.
“Thinking he had more money at his home, they brought him to Ventnor,” she said.
McMenamin said police do not believe the victim was a random target, but she did not release further information.
In responding to a 911 call about 1 a.m. Saturday, Ventnor police said, officers discovered several men removing items from an apartment on Newport Avenue. The men fled the scene on foot.
Two suspects, Crymes and Hinson, were apprehended near the scene. A handgun was recovered from the Ventnor crime scene.
