Heartwalk, a 30-foot wooden heart made in part from reclaimed pieces of the Atlantic City Boardwalk, was dedicated Thursday at its new permanent location on that very strand.

About 200 wooden pieces from the Inlet, where most of the damage to the Boardwalk from Hurricane Sandy took place, were reconfigured by Brooklyn design firm Situ Studio to create a red-lit, heart-shaped structure that also includes pieces of boardwalk from the Rockaways in New York and Sea Girt in Monmouth County.

It was displayed in Times Sqaure this past winter and the Rockaways this summer before moving to its permanent home at New York Avenue and the Boardwalk, with the help of the Atlantic City Alliance.
