Vineland police arrested a man accused of stabbing two people last month.

Najam Cortes, 23, of Millville, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He is being held at Cumberland County Jail on $20,000 bail.

Police said Cortes was at the Bennigan’s on West landis Avenue with two friends Angel Erazo, 24, of Vineland and Victor Santiago, 26, of Vineland on Nov. 11. After the restaurant closed at about 2:45 a.m. the three of them were in the parking lot and a knife was pulled out during a confrontation, police said. All three suffered stab wounds, police said.

Erazo and Cortes were treated for minor wounds at South Jersey Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Vineland and Santiago was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for a serious stab wound, police said. All three were released the following day, police said.

Following an investigation and viewing surveillance footage it was found Cortes was the one who pulled out a 4 to 5 inch knife, police said. He was arrested Nov. 14, police said.
