BRIDGETON — A man was seriously injured when he was attacked by two people early Sunday morning, city police said.

Police said the man, whom they are not identifying, was assaulted in the first block of Elmer Street shortly after 3 a.m.

Police said they got a call from a resident about the attack, and arrived on the scene to find “an adult male lying face down with obvious head injuries.” The victim was flown to Cooper University Hospital in Camden for examination and treatment of his injuries, they said.

A motive for the assault is “unclear,” police said.
