The Ventnor man who turned himself in for a 23-year-old killing April 1 was indicted on murder and weapons offenses Thursday.

Steven Goff, now 41, is accused of killing Frederick Hart, 15, in Galloway Township on May 8, 1990.

Goff went to the Galloway Township Police Department last month and said he had stabbed Hart several times int he woods behind the Clubs Condominiums.

In a jailhouse interview with The Press of Atlantic City, Goff said he decided to turn himself in because he could no longer live with what he had done.

Goff said he was a strung-out kid on steroids at the time.

"I'm not making excuses for my actions, but I do think they played a part of it," he told The Press.

Goff said police at first didn't believe him because of the date he chose to turn himself in on: April Fool's Day.

Hart was reported missing the day after the killing. In December 1991, a hunter discovered the teen's remains in the woods, but a cause of death could not be determined.

Goff is lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $1 million cash bail.
