Police have identified an Atlantic City man who arrived at the hospital shortly after midnight this morning with gunshot wounds to his hip and hand.

Jalial Whitted, 27, came into the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus at about 12:15 a.m. Sunday, saying he had been shot while on his bike, which was found outside the hospital covered in blood.

Whitted would not cooperate with police, including telling them where the attack had occurred, Sgt. Monica McMenamin said.

Just before Whitted arrived at the hospital, shots were reported in the 1300 block of Caspian Avenue, but police could not confirm where Whitted was shot.

A short time later, shots were reported fired at Kentucky and Arctic avenues. Several shell casings were found in that area, police confirmed.

A man found bleeding nearby at Brown's Park refused medical treatment, saying he was injured jumping a fence, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Detective Bureau at 609-347-5766.

Information may also be called in anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234.
