A Hudson County man drove himself to the hospital in Atlantic City on Sunday night, after he was apparently shot in the face.

It was not clear whether Charlie Hvasta, 30, of North Bergen, was even in the city when he was shot, Sgt. Monica McMenamin said.

The victim has not been forthcoming.

Police could not confirm whether Hvasta was shot in the city. There were no reports of shots fired, and the city's ShotSpotter system did not report gunfire. The vehicle was processed by forensics.

The investigation is ongoing.
