A Pleasantville police K9 unit apprehended a man who fled on foot after causing a motor vehicle accident Thursday evening, police said.

Police said the accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. at the Black Horse Pike and Devins Lane when a man driving a car rear-ended a vehicle with two female passengers. The driver then got out of the car and ran, police said.

Officer Mark Millard and his K-9 partner Brisco apprehended the man in a wooded area behind The Press of Atlantic City office, said Sgt. T.J. Zyckowski.

The two women were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City with nonlife-threatening injuries, Zyckowski said.

A temporarily closed westbound lane of the Black Horse Pike was reopened to traffic by 8:30 p.m.
