Sana Fatima, 29, of Mays Landing, charged with leaving baby in car 8-9-2013

A Mays Landing woman was arrested Friday after she allegedly left her 1-month-old daughter locked alone inside her car outside the Babies R Us at the Consumer Square shopping center.

Officers were called just before 1 p.m. and told that an infant was inside a car that was locked with the windows rolled up and the engine off, police said.

When officers arrived, they found the baby girl in severe distress from the heat and broke the windows to get inside, Capt. Mike Petuskey said.
