MIDDLE TOWNSHIP – Police have arrested a 17-year-old male in connection with the Dec. 29 stabbing of a township man.
Police said the 44-year-old victim was stabbed in his upper torso after he became involved in a verbal altercation with several juveniles about being inside an abandoned house.
The verbal altercation turned physical when a 16-year-old juvenile punched the victim in the face and another 17-year-old juvenile stabbed the victim, police said. The juveniles fled the scene and were later identified.
The 17-year-old was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and was lodged in the Cumberland County Detention Center with additional charges pending.
The victim was transported to the Atlantic City Medical Center, city division, to be treated for his injuries.
The case is under investigation by Corporal Eugene Castellano, and the Middle Township Police Departments Major Crimes Unit along with the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
