Middle Township police arrested a man who was pretending to be a police officer while asking people for money on the street.

James Kelly, 40, of Burleigh, was arrested Monday for impersonating a public servant. Police said Kelly was pan handling in the Rio Grande area.

He was transported to Cape May County jail on $1,500 bail.

Police state no public servant would ask people for money on the street.
