MILLVILLE – Local educators and a national sports drink company are working on an agreement that could result in the naming of Millville High School’s baseball field for its most famous athlete, Mike Trout.

The agreement between the school district and Bodyarmor Superdrink also apparently involves the company making significant improvements to the field, high school baseball coach Roy Hallenbeck said.

Hallenbeck said the proposal further involves some kind of association with ESPN’s E:60 show. ESPN’s web site describes the show as ESPN’s “first prime-time newsmagazine featuring profiles, investigations and cutting-edge stories on emerging and established sports.”

School district Business Administrator Bryce Kell said Board of Education Solicitor Arnold Robinson is currently reviewing the legal agreement provided by Bodyarmor. He said it is hoped that Robinson will have some kind of review ready for Monday’s school board meeting.

Trout is a Millville High School graduate who plays for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim baseball club. Trout is the currently American League rookie of the year.

Trout signed on with Bodyarmor last fall. Other athletes who serve as spokespersons for the drink include football players Lesean McCoy, Rob Gronkowski, Ray Rice and Jason Piere-Paul.
