A 62-year-old Monmouth County man died after a Friday night crash at the Atlantic City service area on the Garden State Parkway.

Joseph Cohen, of Howell Township, was unresponsive when troopers from the Bass River station arrived at the scene of a crash about 10 p.m., State Police said.

The Volkswagen Cohen was driving had collided with a unoccupied front-end loader.

Cohen was extracted by the Pomona Volunteer Fire Company.

He was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, city campus, in Atlantic City, where he was pronounced dead.

The car was severely damaged. There was no damage to the front-end loader, police said.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation Saturday.
