A Maryland woman died Saturday after the motorcycle she was riding was struck by a truck in Maurice River Township.
James J. Schuler, 52, of the Leesburg section of Maurice River, was driving a pickup truck north on Route 47 about 11:30 a.m. when he failed to stop and struck another pickup driven by Ronald W. Elbertson, 35, of the Dorchester section, State Police said. The force of the crash pushed Elbertson’s vehicle into the oncoming lane, where he struck a motorcycle driven by Sonia M. Valentine, 48, of Odenton, Md.
Maurice River Township emergency medical services arrived on the scene and gave Valentine cardiopulmonary resuscitation. She was transported to South Jersey Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Vineland, where she was pronounced dead at 11:41 a.m.
State Police were investigating the crash. No summonses have been issued.
