EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — A 44-year-old man died Saturday night after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into the back of a Ford Expedition in the westbound lanes of the Atlantic City Expressway, police said Sunday.

Police said James M. Gardine, Jr., of Runnemede, Camden County, was riding a Yamaha motorcycle in the middle lane when he hit the back of the SUV near mile marker 8 at 8:33 p.m.

Gardiner was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Sunday that it appears Gardiner was speeding at the time of the crash. No charges are pending against the driver of the SUV.
