A Mullica Township man was charged with assaulting his neighbor with his vehicle after an ongoing dispute Thursday night.

Julio Torres, 32, of the Wharton Park development off the White Horse Pike, was charged with assault by vehicle, aggravated assault and leaving the scene of an injured person, Cpl. Ryan Hutton of the township’s Police Department said.

Torres was in the Atlantic County jail on $100,000 bail.

Hutton said Torres and his neighbor, a 35-year-old woman whose identity was not released, have had an ongoing dispute for months, and police have been called to the house multiple times.

About 6 p.m., the two got into an argument and Torres allegedly got into his vehicle and tried to hit his neighbor, Hutton said.

The woman tried to open the vehicle’s door and held on, and she was dragged several feet, Hutton said.

Torres then drove off without stopping, Hutton said.

He later called police to tell his side of the story and was arrested, Hutton said.

The woman suffered serious injuries and was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City.

The investigation is ongoing.
