NEW BRUNSWICK — A poll shows strong support among New Jersey voters for two public questions that will be on ballots statewide in November.
The Rutgers-Eagleton Poll released Friday fins 70 percent of registered voters surveyed support a constitutional amendment that would allow the Legislature to require judges to pay more for their benefits. Eighteen percent are opposed and 12 percent are undecided.
Sixty-two percent back a proposed $750 million bond issue for new academic buildings and technological upgrades at the state's colleges and universities.
The state Supreme Court has ruled that its members and other judges don't have to pay more for their benefits because they're shielded from pay cuts by the state constitution.
The survey of 790 registered voters has a sampling error of 3.9 percentage points.
