An oceanfront fire in Surf City is now out after multiple fire companies spent about three hours on the site tonight.

Surf City police chief William Collins said the fire was reported on a two-story oceanfront property on the first block of 1st Street at 4:56 p.m. The home was unoccupied and the structure received major damage, he said.

No injuries were reported, he said.

The fire is under investigation and the cause has not been determined, he said.

All the fire companies on Long Beach Island and the surrounding mainland companies responded to the scene, he said.
