VINELAND — One person was seriously injured Saturday in a house fire in Vineland's Center City.

Firefighters from four stations responded to the blaze at 6:33 p.m. Saturday in the first block of West Chestnut Avenue to find Vineland police assisting an injured resident outside the burning two-story house.

Nobody else was injured.

The fire, which apparently started in the basement of the home, caused extensive smoke damage to the first and second floors and extensive heat and fire damage to basement, Lt. Dave Bell said.

Bell said the victim was flown by helicopter to Crozer-Chester Medical Center for treatment. The victim's identity and condition were not immediately released.

The fire was brought under control by 6:55 p.m. The cause of the blaze remained under investigation.

Rosenhayn’s fire company provided station coverage during the blaze.
