A juvenile who escaped from the Harborfields Detention Center’s Southern Residential Community Home is still at large.

Sharon Lauchaire, spokeswoman for the state’s Juvenile Justice Commission, said there was no update Wednesday on the boy. Egg Harbor City police reported five boys from Camden escaped New Year’s Eve from the facility in Egg Harbor City and four were eventually caught that night but one eluded capture.

Lauchaire said the boys did not escape from the guarded detention center but from the residential home that is overseen by staff and used for juveniles who committed lower-tier crimes or have served in the detention center and are awaiting release.
