South Jersey Transportation Authority Executive Director Bart Mueller has accepted a position with U.S. Facilities Inc., a Philadelphia-based facilities management and infrastructure support company.

Mueller previously announced plans to step down from the authority but declined to say what he would do next. He will be U.S. Facilities’ director of port development services beginning July 9, according to a news release from the SJTA.

“The addition of Bart on my executive team will give us the much needed talent and strength to grow our maritime (and) port-related business,” said Jim Dobrowolski, president and CEO of U.S. Facilities. “USF has a strong track record in this area and, coupled with Bart’s track record as the executive director of the SJTA, will help drive our expansion in this market.”

Mueller, who joined the SJTA in 2003 as the programs director in charge of E-ZPass, oversaw the addition of a third lane on the Atlantic City Expressway and the addition of high-speed E-ZPass lanes at the Pleasantville and Mid-County toll plazas. His last day at the SJTA will be June 29.

The SJTA had been scheduled to vote today on a resolution appointing Deputy Executive Director Sam Donelson the agency’s acting executive director. However, the SJTA’s board meeting was canceled and has not yet been rescheduled.
