Valentine's Day plans are safe as predictions of snow won't affect the area until after dinner tonight.

Current conditions in the region are clear, and the day will continue to be mostly sunny or partly cloudy- with no precipitation in sight.

A light layer of snow accumulated overnight, but major roadways have been cleared.

The National Weather Service is forecasting snow for overnight that should begin about 1 a.m. Saturday in the area.

Snow will continue, along with a mix of rain, until about 4 p.m. Saturday, according to NWS. About 1-3 inches is expected.

State government offices, which were closed Thursday, will reopen at 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Transportation Department plows and salt-spreaders are on the major highways. There are speed restrictions on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway.
