A 24-year-old woman from Washington, D.C., was hit and killed by a car while she was walking Wednesday night on the White Horse Pike in Absecon.
Police said Shabritta J. Downing was found lying on the highway near Mill Road at 11:18 p.m.
She was struck by a car driven by Lindsey M. Marchesani, 29, of Levittown, Pa., police said.
Downing was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, where she was pronounced dead, police said. Marchesani was not injured, police said.
