VINELAND— An early morning fire engulfed a storage building behind a residence in the 500 block of East Pear Street Friday.

Fire officials said the homeowner’s pets, more than one dog, died in the fire. No other injuries were reported.

The fire was reported at about 4:30 a.m., and a portion of the road— from Northeast Boulevard to 6th Street— were shut down while firefighters brought the fire under control.

The cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious, officials said, but the incident is still under investigation.
