A Philadelphia police officer has been suspended this week following an indictment on charges out of Atlantic City that included her allegedly biting an officer.
Aisha Pleasant, 36, was arrested March 4 on charges of resisting arrest and aggravated assault on a police officer, according to Philadelphia police.
Shortly after 3 a.m. March 4, officers working a detail at the Pier at Caesars responded to assist security with removing Pleasant, who was refusing to leave.
Pleasant fought the officers as they removed her from the property, including biting one on the hand, according to the charges. She was then arrested.
Pleasant, a three-year veteran of the department assigned to the 9th District, was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrests, obstruction of administration of the law and trespassing. She was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $15,000 bail.
She was indicted in June. This week, she was suspended by the Philadelphia Police Department for 30 days with intent to dismiss.
"After a review of the circumstances of the incident ... Commissioner (Charles) Ramsey has started formal disciplinary actions against Officer Pleasant," according to the release.
