Pleasantville police are investigating an alleged sexual assault on a 96-year-old city resident.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was alone at her home on Guard Place at about 5:30 a.m. Saturday, when she tells police she was attacked, Chief Jose Ruiz said.

An investigation is ongoing, and tests are at the state lab, Ruiz said.

"We have nothing definitive from the hospital and nothing definitive from State Police," Ruiz said.

Mayor Jesse Tweedle and other city council members took a moment to address the incident at a city hall meeting Monday night.

The evidence is currently inconclusive, Tweedle said, but the police are investigating the horrible incident and it is a top priority.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 609-641-6100.
