PLEASANTVILLE -- Police were called to Pleasantville High School when a juvenile was found with a steak knife in his backpack Friday.

Police said a school security officer was informed that the student had the knife, and the object was retrieved after a search through the backpack, police said.

Police received a call at 11:50 a.m., and the juvenile was taken into custody. Capt. Rocky Melendez said the juvenile will be released to his parents, pending a court date. In addition, it is likely the student will be suspended.
