Pleasantville police are trying to piece together how a man was shot in the face with a pellet gun.

Police said a man walked into the police station after 911 dispatch helped direct him to the station from a few blocks away. The man had a minor gunshot wound to his face from what was later determined to be a pellet gun. He was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, where he remains in unknown condition.

The man did not speak English and the language barrier prevented police from obtaining much information about the incident. The man told police the incident occurred about 12:30 a.m. and police are trying to figure out why it took more than two hours for the man to come to the police station. Police currently have no identification on the victim and the victim could not give police the address of where he lived or where the incident occurred.

Police describe the injuries as non-life threatening.
