SOMERS POINT — A Pleasantville man was charged with drug dealing Thursday, after officers allegedly saw an illegal transaction, police said.

Somers Point Police Chief Michael Boyd said during routine patrol, officers  saw what they believed may be a drug deal transpiring on the corner of Maryland and Shore roads at around 7:30 p.m.

Wallace Knowles, 32, of Pleasantville, was arrested on charges of possession and possession with intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances and was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility where he remains on a $100,000 cash bail.

Police said they found over a half ounce of cocaine, 37 morphine pills, a fully-loaded and defaced handgun and more than $38,000 in cash.

Officer Shawn McKelvey led the investigation with the assistance of Officers Steven Hance, Mark McElwee and K9 Officer Sunny.
